SAFY receives grant from the Community Foundation of Greenville

(GREENVILLE, South Carolina), (June 29, 2010) –Specialized Alternatives for Families and Youth (SAFY) has received a grant in the amount of $5,000 from the Community Foundation of Greenville. More than a traditional foster care agency, SAFY focuses on children and families in crisis, providing outpatient behavioral health treatment, intervention, adoption and therapeutic foster care. For more than 25 years, children who have experienced the worst in life have found hope for better days through SAFY.

The support of The Community Foundation of Greenville strengthens SAFY’s efforts to recruit and train foster parents in the upstate area. According to Paula Walker, Treatment Director for SAFY Greenville, “The funds will provide quality, ongoing foster parent training focusing on new approaches in behavioral interventions to help our foster children reach their full potential.” SAFY recruitment efforts and real world treatment models are made possible in part by a grant from the Community Foundation of Greenville. Further information about the Community Foundation of Greenville can be obtained at www.cfgreenville.org.

SAFY is a leading not for profit foster care and adoption agency. Each year, SAFY serves 4,300 difficult-to-place foster children in eight states. SAFY utilizes trained treatment foster families to provide these youth with a caring, stable environment.
